Ethos and Values of King Edward VI Academy

At King Edward VI Academy we believe that all students have the ability to succeed, and we ensure they are prepared to participate positively in our 21st century community. We are unapologetically ambitious for all our students and provide access to high quality educational opportunities regardless of socio-economic background. We are an inclusive community that is student focused, embraces differences and celebrates diversity.  We encourage a commitment to the shared values of Ambition and Aspiration, Courage and Resilience, Honesty and Respect and through the promotion of our values and the work we do through the House system we encourage the students to feel a sense of belonging.  Every adult in our community is a role model and we all have the opportunity and responsibility to have a positive impact on the lives of others.

Culture and Climate

We always aim to provide a calm, caring and purposeful learning environment that supports our students to achieve their personal best.  We support our students to have a positive self-belief, encouraging them to take responsibility for their own learning and personal development ensuring they become lifelong learners who determine their own futures. We are relentless in our pursuit of the small things that we believe have a big impact on our school culture, environment, our students’ attitude to learning and our community.  It is because of this we have a constant focus on high standards for our students, whether in relation to manners and communication, behaviour and uniform or academic achievement and resilience.

At King Edward VI Academy we foster a ‘can do’ attitude amongst our students and encourage them to take resilient approach to every challenge.  We will always challenge anything that is less than the very best that each individual can give.  Our priority is to ensure that the pupils know that they can shape their lives through choice, not chance.
