A very warm welcome to King Edward VI Academy or KEVI, as we affectionately call it. Our focus is to provide the highest quality education we can, securing the best life chances for our students. It is important to us to facilitate students reaching their highest possible level of academic achievement and personal growth. We want them to leave the academy well prepared for the next phase in education or employment, by understanding the world we live in, learning from those around them and being an independent learner who is keen to broaden their horizons.  

We are an inclusive community that is student focused, embraces differences and celebrates diversity.  We encourage a commitment to the shared values of Ambition and Aspiration, Courage and Resilience, Honesty and Respect and through the promotion of our values and the work we do through the House system we encourage the students to feel a sense of belonging. We teach students that demonstrating our school values on a daily basis is key to success in both the classroom and outside of it. 

We provide access to high quality educational opportunities and our culture creates opportunities for all to be the best they can be.   

We insist on high standards in all we do, with a particular focus on student behaviour, teaching and learning and on developing students’ character and cultural capital.

We have clear and simple expectations of students’ behaviour outlined by our three academy rules:

In the classroom, we believe our students are entitled to disruption free learning and our straightforward behaviour system of warn, move, remove supports this.

 Our clear routines and standard operating procedures allow students to maximise the learning time with the experts in the room, their teachers.  Routines and consistency are key elements to this, and they support our calm, purposeful and happy environment.
