COVID Update Relaxation of Restrictions
13th May 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you will be aware, the Government has announced some relaxation to the COVID lockdown and restrictions which will be in place from Monday 17th May. With this in mind, I wanted to update all of you regarding how this impacts us within school.
Face coverings will no longer be recommended for students in classrooms or communal areas, in all schools. Face coverings will also no longer be recommended for staff in classrooms. In all schools, we continue to recommend that face coverings should be worn by staff and visitors in situations outside of classrooms where social distancing is not possible (for example, when moving around in corridors and communal areas).
The reintroduction of face coverings for pupils, students or staff may be advised for a temporary period in response to particular localised outbreaks, including variants of concern.
Although, we will no longer be recommending the wearing of face coverings for students, if you feel that you still want your child to wear one, this is fine.
As you know for the whole academic year, for the majority of lessons, students have remained within one classroom for the most of their lessons and in one zone of the school. This has been slightly different for our older students. We now feel that due to continued reduction in COVID infections and deaths as well as the increasing number of adults receiving the vaccine, it is safe for teachers to return to their own classrooms and allow more movement around school for students.
I want to reassure you all that we are guided by and continue to follow the Government guidance at all times. All other protective measures such as the maintenance of bubbles, extra hygiene and social distancing will remain in place in our school. Our one-way system, staggered breaks and lunchtimes, separate entrance and exit points will remain in place in order to maintain the tutor group and year group bubbles and minimise the risk of infection.
We will be speaking with students regarding this through tutorials and all students will be issued with new copies of their timetables which show the room changes on Monday morning.
If you have any concerns or worries at any time, please do not hesitate to email us on:

Many thanks for your continued support throughout this year.
Yours sincerely
