COVID Update 29.11.2021
29th November 2021
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you will be aware on Saturday 27th November, the Government announced some new temporary measures following the emergence of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the UK. The new measures will be introduced as a precaution to slow down the spread of the variant. Yesterday, the DFE announced additional temporary measures for all educational settings. These are set out below.
Face coverings
Face coverings should be worn in communal areas in all educational settings by staff, visitors and students in year 7 and above, unless they are exempt. Students (in year 7 or above) should continue to wear face coverings on public and dedicated school transport, unless they are exempt.
As this information came out quite late on Sunday, we promoted this via our social media platforms. I would like to thank those families who responded by sending their child to school today with a face covering. Your support and response to measures we have needed to put in place, often at short notice throughout this pandemic, has been much appreciated. Please can you ensure you discuss the new measures with your child and ensure you send them to school with a face covering on Tuesday. We only have a limited stock of face masks in school. Please remind your child that if they travel to school by bus or taxi, they must wear a face covering from tomorrow, Tuesday 30th November on all transport.
Testing
In line with guidance, we continue to encourage all staff and students to test twice weekly using lateral flow device (LFD) tests.
I want to reassure you all that we are guided by and continue to follow the Government guidance at all times. Should any additional measures need to be put in place, I will write to you further.
Many thanks for your continued support throughout this year.
Yours sincerely
J Myhill-Johnson
