National SCITT Hubs

Maths and Physics

If you would like to train as a Maths or Physics teacher, you can do so through the National Maths and Physics SCITT – a route that privileges subject specific training on the ground, with experienced practitioners.

Humberston Academy is the lead school for the Humberside & Lincolnshire hub of the National Maths and Physics SCITT with Professional Studies training days taking at the David Ross Education Trust head office in Loughborough. Applications can be made via Apply for teacher training then searching for The National Maths and Physics SCITT and selecting the Humberside and Lincolnshire Hub or the East Midlands Hub, depending on your preference of area.
The PGCE is awarded by University of Buckingham for Maths and Physics trainees qualifying through this route.

We are delighted to be working with The National Mathematics and Physics School Centred Initial Teacher Training programme (NMAPS), a Department of Education (DfE) initiative designed to give Mathematics and Physics trainees the best experience during their Initial Teacher Training. Trainees will be based in schools with bespoke subject specialist training programmes, delivered by outstanding practitioners and in conjunction with national subject associations. On successful completion of the programme, trainees will be awarded both QTS and PGCE. School name will be offering supernumerary training place(s) with NMAPS in Mathematics and/or Physics for which DfE bursaries are available. We would be delighted to receive applications via Apply for teacher training.
