King Edward VI Academy

King Edward VI offers every child the opportunity to fulfil their academic, creative and sporting potential to ensure each and every child achieves academic success.

Academy Information

King Edward VI, in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, opened as an academy in the autumn of 2012.

The choice of school for your child is a very important one and requires deep consideration. We offer every child the opportunity to fulfil their academic, creative and sporting potential. We pride ourselves on our level of care for the individual and wish to see each and every child achieve success in their own particular area of expertise.

Mr J Myhill-Johnson

We are a bilateral academy – that is, a secondary school with a grammar stream in each year of entry – that, as with other schools in the David Ross Education Trust’s network, has a House system.

Ethos and Values of King Edward VI Academy

Our sponsor’s vision is to broaden young people’s horizons by creating a world-class academy, providing excellent teaching and learning and offering a wide range of outstanding academic and co-curricular opportunities for students.

The academy has the following hallmarks:

  • The environment is characterised by a calm, warm and welcoming atmosphere, which engenders a sense of personal worth and confidence. It is business-like and orderly.
  • Students are supported in developing self-esteem and self worth.
  • The academy strives at all times to ensure that everyone feels included in what is going on.
  • The academy is based upon a belief that every student, whatever their circumstances, has the potential to make something of themselves and their futures, with the ability to grow into enterprising and successful adults who can make a difference to, and for, their communities and themselves.

By offering a wide range of different opportunities, there is something at which everyone can excel and this in turn enhances all students’ enjoyment of their education and their willingness to work harder to improve other aspects of their learning.
